Armenia's contamination of Araz River wreaks havoc on ecosystem Azerbaijani official claims
The Plenipotentiary Representative of the Azerbaijani President in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Fuad Najafli, has said that the mining industry in Armenia has significantly harmed Azerbaijan's environmental landscape.
Addressing a scientific-practical conference held in Nakhchivan, Najafli highlighted that Armenia's toxic metal discharges into the Araz River and Shir Arkh have led to the deaths of hundreds of migratory birds and fish, Caliber.Az reports.
He noted that pollution of the Araz River by Armenia persists to this day, causing severe damage to the fauna and flora along the riverbanks. Many plant and animal species are at risk of extinction. Observations indicate that the river's water has become murky, yet Armenia continues to inflict environmental damage.
Additionally, Najafli pointed out that a recent incident involving a local resident injured by a landmine in the Shahbuz district also reflects Armenia's malicious policy.
