Armenian chief of general staff briefs US diplomats on recent developments
On August 31, Chief of Armenia's Armed Forces General Staff, Major General Edward Asryan, received US Embassy Chargé d'affaires to Armenia, Deputy Chief of Mission Chip Laitinen, and the embassy's Military Attaché, Col. Gregory Pipes.
"Chip Leitinen congratulated Edward Asryan on assuming the post of Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, wishing him effective and fruitful work," the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Defence said in a statement, Caliber.Az reports quoting Armenian media.
"During the meeting, issues related to the Armenian-American military cooperation in the fields of military medicine, peacekeeping, and military education were discussed.
At the request of Chip Laitinen and Gregory Pipes, the Armenian chief of staff presented the operational situation and recent developments in the Armenian-Azerbaijani border zone, Lachin corridor, and Karabakh," the statement reads.
