Armenian, Iranian top brass discuss military cooperation
Armenian Defence Minister Suren Papikyan engaged in significant discussions concerning military collaboration and regional security during a high-level meeting with Major General Mohammad Bagheri, the Chief of General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces.
The discussions underscored the importance of fostering closer ties between Armenia and Iran in defence affairs. Minister Papikyan, who embarked on an official visit to Iran on March 6, met with Bagheri to explore avenues for enhanced cooperation in defence matters, Caliber.Az reports citing the Armenian Defence Ministry.
Prior to his meeting with Bagheri, Papikyan held talks with Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Mohammad-Reza Gharaei Ashtiani, where both officials delved into the prospects of bolstering defence cooperation between their respective nations.
The discussions between Papikyan and Bagheri encompassed a wide array of topics, including international and regional developments. Both leaders reiterated their commitment to promoting lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus region, emphasizing the significance of collaborative efforts towards this common goal.
A number of agreements on issues of mutual interest were reached during the meeting. It should be noted that Papikyan left for Iran on March 6 on an official visit.
