Armenian MP rules out chances "to recognise Karabakh's independence"
An Armenian MP has ruled out any chance to recognise the independence of Karabakh, which is internationally recognised as Azerbaijani territory.
"Azerbaijan was wounded in the 1994 war, which gave 25,000 victims and had 600,000 refugees, or are we the only victims? Inciting a long-term enmity with the Azerbaijanis is a trap for us. We must not stir up enmity. The state failed in previous years, failing to achieve the independence of Artsakh (Karabakh – ed.). There are and there have never been chances to recognise Artsakh's independence. We are working to ensure that a mine or a delayed explosion does not become a solution to the Artsakh problem," Caliber.Az quotes Armenian MP from the Civil Contract faction, Arsen Torosyan, recently telling the Armenian media.
He advised avoiding further enmity.
"The status quo that has developed after the 2020 war is fraught with dangers. Do we want to remain indefinitely in danger of being killed, or should we resolve the conflict? To do this, it is necessary to heal the wounds of the Armenian and Azerbaijani peoples who have been going through 30 years of wars and military conflicts, and not to deepen enmity," Torosyan said.
