Armenian opposition members called to military drills
About 40 members of the Armenian so-called "Resistance" movement have been called to participate in the three-month mobilisation training of the country’s Defence Ministry over the past few days.
“Law enforcement agencies have so little to do that they sit and study videos of opposition rallies, finding out the identities of the protesters and sending them subpoenas,” Caliber.Az reports, citing the Yerevan-based Hraparak newspaper.
The article reads that local authorities are still afraid of the opposition and thereby they are trying to keep people away from fighting.
“The absurdity is that even a few activists who are in custody were notified. In carrying out repressive actions, however, as in everything else, the authorities are mediocre and incompetent. Yesterday [June 30], in a conversation with us, opposition MP Tadevos Avetisyan said that he was aware that several activists have received the summons. But, he didn’t disclose their names,” the newspaper writes.
