Armenian PM announces reduction of problematic zone near Dygh village
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said that the problematic area near Dygh village (Zangazur) in Armenia’s Syunik region had been reduced by another 1.4 km.
He made the remarks speaking to journalists in parliament, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
As the Armenian prime minister noted, of the 12-kilometre line to be clarified, a 5-kilometre section was considered problematic.
"I can say that at the moment the zone has been reduced by another 1.4 km. This means that this section of the border has been clarified. It means that we and the Azerbaijanis have a common opinion on this section," Pashinyan explained.
According to him, Armenian and Azerbaijani border guards are stationed at a certain distance from this line.
Pashinyan noted that practice shows that when the issue is dealt with by the border guards, it yields certain results.
"We hope that the remaining 3.6 km will be clarified and the issue will be closed at this point," the prime minister added.
