Turkish foreign minister, US counterpart discuss possible ceasefire in Ukraine
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a phone call with US Secretary of State Mark Rubio to discuss a range of pressing international issues, including the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine, Syria, and Gaza.
The two top diplomats exchanged views on efforts to broker a ceasefire in the Russia-Ukraine war, which has continued into its third year with mounting global concerns over humanitarian consequences and regional instability, Caliber.Az reports per Turkish media.
In addition to the war in Ukraine, Fidan and Rubio reviewed developments in Syria and the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Both sides emphasized the importance of diplomacy and coordination in de-escalating tensions and advancing regional stability.
The officials also discussed a number of other bilateral and international issues of mutual interest, underscoring the strategic nature of Turkish-American relations.
Earlier, Fidan and Rubio met on April 3 in the Belgian capital of Brussels as part of a NATO foreign ministers meeting.
