US-Iran talks continue: Military capabilities off the table, says IRGC spokesman
Iran’s military and defence capabilities will remain off the table in any negotiations, the spokesperson for the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) reiterated on April 15, marking the first anniversary of the True Promise operation carried out against the Israeli regime in April 2024.
General Ali Mohammad Naeini, in his statements, emphasized that the Iranian armed forces’ resolve to protect national interests and preserve the Islamic Revolution is underscored by operations such as True Promise I and II, Caliber.Az reports per Iranian media.
According to Naeini, these operations reflect Iran's serious commitment to its security.
The IRGC spokesperson further asserted that national security and military power are considered red lines by the Islamic Republic of Iran and will not be subject to any form of negotiation. This statement follows a round of indirect talks held between Iran and the US in Oman, where Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and US President’s special envoy Steve Witkoff expressed satisfaction with the initial discussions.
Iranian officials maintained that the only topic raised in the talks was the nuclear issue, particularly the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program, with no mention of military matters. The next round of negotiations is scheduled for April 19, 2025.
