Armenian PM, US delegation discuss Baku-Yerevan peace agreements
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has received a delegation led by the U.S. Under Secretary of State Allison Hooker.
The meeting saw the prime minister praising Hooker’s visit and noted that cooperation between the two countries has recently reached a qualitatively new level, and is now viewed differently by both the government and the Armenian public, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
He also highlighted the role of the U.S. and President Donald Trump in advancing peace with Azerbaijan.
The premier stressed the importance of implementing the agreements reached at the August 8 Washington Peace Summit and adhering to the agreed timeline. He emphasised a wide-ranging bilateral agenda covering multiple sectors.
Under Secretary Hooker thanked Armenian officials for their hospitality and said her visit aims to advance the vision agreed upon by President Trump and Prime Minister Pashinyan during the August meetings. She underscored discussions on deepening cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure, regional connectivity, and security.
Hooker highlighted the launch of bilateral working groups led by Assistant Deputy Secretary of State Sonata Kalter, tasked with implementing agreements from the historic summit and developing the “Trump Road to International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP).
She added that ongoing U.S.-Armenia cooperation, along with progress on a full peace treaty with Azerbaijan and normalisation of relations with Türkiye, could position the South Caucasus as a vital trade route, benefiting both nations.
The meeting also covered the activities of the working groups, the TRIPP project, and near-term plans for bilateral cooperation.
Hooker arrived in Yerevan, Armenia, earlier in the day. As part of the visit, Hooker met with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and discussed the implementation of the TRIPP project, as well as areas of mutual interest, including energy, artificial intelligence, investment promotion, and infrastructure development.
Hooker is also expected to meet with Security Council Secretary, Armen Grigoryan, and Armenia’s special representative for negotiations with Türkiye, Ruben Rubinyan.
The US Department of State also announced that Hooker is set to visit Azerbaijan, with no exact date revealed yet.
The "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP) is a U.S.-brokered infrastructure project aimed at establishing a multimodal transit corridor through southern Armenia, connecting Azerbaijan’s mainland to its Nakhchivan exclave. The route, approximately 40–43 km long in Armenia’s Syunik Province, includes rail, road, gas and oil pipelines, power lines, and fibre-optic cables. It is part of ongoing Armenia-Azerbaijan normalisation efforts following the 2020 Karabakh war and subsequent anti-terror operation in 2023 that fully restored Azerbaijan’s sovereignty.
