Armenian president approves regulation on functions of border delimitation commission with Azerbaijan
Armenia's President, Vahagn Khachaturyan, has signed a regulation outlining the functions of Armenian and Azerbaijani state commissions responsible for border delimitation.
The regulation was passed by the Armenian parliament on October 23, with 67 members voting in favour, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
There were no abstentions or votes against the regulation, and opposition factions abstained from both discussions and voting.
The regulation details the structure for carrying out border delimitation work, including the preparation of necessary documentation, protocols describing the border crossings, and a scaled delimitation map. It also mandates the establishment of expert groups to support the commission’s efforts. This framework is intended to provide a robust legal basis for the ongoing work on border delimitation.
Notably, Yerevan and Baku signed an agreement on August 30 to facilitate the joint activities of the border delimitation and demarcation commissions.
On September 26, Armenia’s Constitutional Court confirmed that the regulation complies with the country’s constitution.
