Armenia's security chief: Peace talks, delimitation remain top priority
The issue of peace negotiations, delimitation, and other related matters remains a priority for Armenia, said Armenia's Secretary of the Security Council, Armen Grigoryan.
Grigoryan has confirmed that the country had sent proposals to Azerbaijan concerning a draft peace agreement, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
“We have sent proposals to Azerbaijan regarding the peace talks and are awaiting their response. The proposals include two points on which the parties have yet to reach a final agreement. We have openly discussed these points, and I hope we will find ways to resolve them,” Grigoryan stated.
Meanwhile, on January 22, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan described the ongoing border delimitation talks with Azerbaijan as constructive, stressing their importance for the broader peace process.
The efforts, which began in April 2024, aim to demarcate the international borders between the two nations, starting from the northern section near Georgia. Recent discussions, including a January 2025 meeting between border commission heads, focused on the northern border.
Armenia has agreed to vacate occupied Azerbaijani villages, and the process follows a joint regulation signed in August 2024. These talks are part of post-conflict peace-building measures following the 2020 Karabakh ceasefire.
