Armenian pundit: India regards Azerbaijan as non-hostile nation
Armenian political analyst Benyamin Poghosyan has said that India does not consider Azerbaijan as an enemy.
"It is difficult to say whether India perceives Azerbaijan as a friendly country, but there is definitely no feeling that Azerbaijan is an enemy of India. I can say that India definitely does not perceive Azerbaijan as an enemy. On the contrary, there is a desire to deepen relations with Azerbaijan," Poghosyan said in an interview with Armenian media, Caliber.Az reports.
"Finally, let's not forget about the North-South international transportation corridor, which is necessary for India to connect with Russia and Europe, at least in connecting with Russia, the role of Azerbaijan is crucial, i.e. India, Iran and then through Azerbaijan to Russia. And if the Resht-Astara railroad is launched in 2027-2028, there will be a continuous connection from the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas to Russia. Hence, this circumstance alone is enough for India to at least not want Azerbaijan to become its enemy.
And if we look at it, India also publicly states that arms supplies to Armenia in no way mean that India considers Azerbaijan a hostile state. India says that the arms shipments are aimed at establishing stability in the South Caucasus.
Armenia is not considered as a road to Russia, because Armenia has no borders with Russia, but through Georgia, it is quite difficult, there is Upper Lars, etc.," the political analyst said.
