Armenian pundit: West standing in the ruins of its failed policy towards Azerbaijan
Speaking to the Armenian media, Associate Professor of Political Science Abraham Gasparyan said that the West is now facing the consequences of its failed anti-Azerbaijani policy and described Armenia as a "buffer state".
"Unfortunately, in international relations, Armenia is not seen as an integral and subjective entity, but rather as a buffer state. This is very bad in the medium and long term because buffer states are usually states where anyone can go and do anything. From the same intelligence and security services up to the army, if necessary," he said, according to Caliber.Az.
"If you are a buffer, it means that somewhere you can pose a security threat. Look at what they have done with Syria, because they have already turned Syria into a buffer.
I think the West is now standing in the ruins of its failed policy towards Azerbaijan. Because Azerbaijan said very clearly: I am leaving. And showed the yellow card. Azerbaijan has checkmated everybody.
Excuse me, but what has the presence of EU observers or the West or any other country done in the last six years? Nothing. These authorities think that they will get these countries to protect us in the inevitable war by telling Iran and Russia that we are going to the West. However, if I may, I would like to say something unpleasant. Unfortunately, as a result of our historical blunders and mistakes, a very painful idea has taken root in our linguistic thinking and diplomatic subconscious: in the end, a Russian will come to save us, or a Persian will come to save us. This is simply infantile diplomacy," Gasparyan said.
