Armenian skier fined for covering “Azerbaijan” logo at Tour de Ski

Armenian skier Mikayel Mikayelyan has been fined by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) for covering the “Azerbaijan” logo on his racing suit during a Tour de Ski event. The incident took place in Toblach, Italy.

The exact amount of the fine has not been disclosed. Mikayelyan has not publicly explained his actions, according to Sputnik Armenia.

The Tour de Ski event featured multiple promotions for Azerbaijan, including large advertising banners and logos on athletes’ suits. The sponsorship follows a five-year agreement signed last May between FIS and the Azerbaijan State Tourism Agency.
