Around 700 Armenian trucks stranded at Upper Lars checkpoint
Approximately 700 Armenian lorries are currently waiting to cross the Russian-Georgian border at the Upper Lars checkpoint in North Ossetia.
A total of 2,170 trucks are queued, with 677 belonging to Armenian hauliers heading to Georgia, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
While the crossing at the Upper Lars checkpoint is open to all types of vehicles, traffic congestion has been reported along the Gudauri-Kobi section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars road due to deteriorating weather conditions.
It is worth noting that the Georgian Military Road is the only operational land route connecting Armenia with Russia via Georgia.
Notably, on November 8, over 400 Armenian trucks were reported waiting in an electronic queue to cross the Russian-Georgian border at the Upper Lars checkpoint in North Ossetia, according to the North Ossetian Traffic Management Centre.
A total of 1,405 trucks were registered, with 439 Armenian trucks in the queue to enter Georgia. The Upper Lars checkpoint remained open for all types of vehicles, with an average of 150 Armenian trucks passing through daily.
