Kremlin: Russia to send only military officials to Abu Dhabi security talks
Russia will be represented exclusively by military personnel in the trilateral security group set to hold negotiations in Abu Dhabi, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
He added that the names of the delegation members from the Ministry of Defence will not be disclosed at this time, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
“This is a working group on security issues, and these will be the first negotiations,” Peskov said, responding to a question about who will participate alongside the group’s head, Chief of the Main Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff Igor Kostyukov.
Commenting on overnight talks with the US, Peskov emphasised that the Kremlin “handled them absolutely normally.”
“The work is intense, the topic is extremely important and very complex. During such serious consultations, no one pays attention to the late hour,” the spokesperson noted.
Peskov declined to disclose the exact amount of Russian assets frozen in the US, saying it is “just under $5 billion.”
Regarding the formulas under discussion in the Ukraine negotiations, including territorial issues, he said it was “inadvisable” to speak publicly. “First, we naturally do not want to go into details of the provisions being discussed, so I cannot and will not say what exactly is meant by the ‘Anchorage formula.’”
Peskov reiterated Russia’s well-known position that Ukrainian forces must leave Donbas, calling this a “very important condition,” while noting that other issues remain on the negotiation agenda.
