ASTRA: Oil depot in Russia’s Rostov region hit in drone attack PHOTO / VIDEO
An oil depot in the Russian city of Gukovo, located in the Rostov Region, was reportedly struck during a Ukrainian drone attack overnight on June 18, triggering a large fire at the facility.
According to an OSINT analysis published by ASTRA, residents of Gukovo reported explosions and a subsequent blaze following the drone strike. Based on footage released by the monitoring channel Supernova+, an ASTRA analyst identified the burning site as an oil depot situated on Karl Marx Street. The video was reportedly filmed from nearby Kostyushkina Street.
Earlier on June 18, the governor of Rostov Region confirmed that one person had been killed and two others injured as a result of the attack. He also stated that “two commercial facilities caught fire” and that a locomotive sustained damage.
Russian authorities have not officially confirmed that the affected site was an oil depot. However, ASTRA's geolocation analysis indicates that the fire occurred at a petroleum storage facility in Gukovo.
Open-source information regarding the depot’s storage capacity is limited. Nevertheless, satellite imagery from 2026 available through Google Maps appears to show eight storage tanks on the site, which may be used for storing petroleum products. Railway tracks also run through the facility.
