Azerbaijan, Cuba expanding medical cooperation Two countries ink new memorandum (PHOTO)
Azerbaijan and Cuba have signed a “Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Healthcare and Medical Science”, envisaging cooperation in healthcare, joint initiatives and the use of advanced technologies in medicine.
The document was signed by Azerbaijani Health Minister Teymur Musayev and Cuban Minister of Public Health Jose Angel Portal Miranda, the Azerbaijani Health Ministry told Caliber.Az.
The purpose of the memorandum is to strengthen health systems, expand the institutional framework of both countries, promote the development of public health and implement cooperation programmes.
Proceeding from the signed document, the main spheres of cooperation are academic and scientific exchange of experience, joint activity in pharmaceutics and biotechnology, cooperation in postgraduate education and medical tourism. The memorandum covers the exchange of information in infectious, chronic non-infectious diseases, oncological diseases, diabetes, as well as precision surgery.
The memorandum also envisages joint conferences and training for medical workers.
After the signing of the document, a bilateral meeting was held with delegations from both ministries. Stressing the importance of the signed memorandum, Musayev and Jose Angel Portal Miranda noted that this document will play an important role in strengthening bilateral relations in healthcare development and the implementation of specific opportunities, as well as will contribute to the development of medical science.
Further cooperation spheres were also discussed at the meeting.
