Azerbaijan demines over 95,000 hectares of liberated lands
Chairman of the Board of the Mine Action Agency of the Azerbaijan Republic (ANAMA) Vugar Suleymanov has said that to date, more than 95,000 hectares of liberated territories have been cleared of mines.
“About 30,000 anti-personnel mines, 17,000 anti-tank mines and over 40,000 unexploded ordnance have been found and defused. Some 305 people suffered, 57 of them died, while the rest were wounded,” Suleymanov told APA.
"The process of demining the territories freed from occupation continues rapidly," Suleymanov stated this during the presentation of an Azerbaijan-made demining vehicle.
He said that Azerbaijan bought demining machines from abroad for 2 years.
"It is very gratifying that today these machines are already being produced in Azerbaijan. Demining works were started immediately after the liberation of our lands from occupation. Today, the process of demining the territories freed from occupation continues rapidly," said the chairman.
On September 4, the Karabakh Revival Foundation held a presentation ceremony dedicated to the delivery of that demining vehicle to ANAMA.
