Azerbaijan engages in EU-led talks on regional security, Eurasian connectivity
Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Yalchin Rafiyev is set to represent Baku at a high-level ministerial meeting on regional security and cross-regional connectivity taking place today in Luxembourg, following the EU Foreign Affairs Council.
The event will feature two dedicated sessions, bringing together representatives from the European Union, the Eastern Partnership countries, and Central Asia. The European Commission confirmed the format and participant list, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The first session will focus on “Security, Stability, and Resilience in the Black Sea Region.” It will be attended by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, as well as heads of delegations from the EU member states and representatives from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Türkiye, and Ukraine.
The second session, held as a working dinner, will address “Advancing the Cross-Regional Connectivity Agenda.” EU Commissioner for International Partnerships Jozef Síkela will join this round of discussions, which will also include representatives from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan, alongside EU officials.
The dual-track meeting aims to deepen strategic cooperation between the EU and the broader region across multiple sectors — including security, transport, energy, and sustainable development. It also seeks to enhance interconnectivity between Europe and Asia, in line with the EU’s evolving approach to regional engagement.
