Azerbaijan, Hungary hold first round of political consultations in Budapest
Azerbaijan and Hungary have held the first round of political consultations between their foreign ministries in Budapest, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported.
The talks, which took place on October 14, were led by Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev on behalf of Azerbaijan and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Boglárka Illés representing Hungary.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation across political, economic and humanitarian fields. They also exchanged views on Azerbaijan’s strategic energy and transport projects and explored opportunities to deepen collaboration within international organisations.
Both delegations positively assessed the outcomes of the August 8 Washington summit involving the leaders of Azerbaijan, the United States and Armenia.
The Azerbaijani side briefed Hungarian counterparts on the prospects for establishing lasting peace in the region and fostering regional cooperation, while expressing appreciation for Hungary’s support in demining and rebuilding territories liberated from occupation.
The consultations also covered a range of global, regional and bilateral issues of mutual interest.
As part of his visit, Rzayev held a number of working meetings with Hungarian officials and took part in a round-table discussion with representatives of leading research institutions.
