Azerbaijan, Hungary strengthen energy ties, discuss key gas supplies to Europe
Azerbaijan and Hungary have held discussions on strengthening bilateral energy ties, with a focus on gas supplies from Azerbaijan to European countries.
Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov shared on X page the details of the meeting, which took place in Budapest with Hungary's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, Caliber.Az reports.
“The development of bilateral energy cooperation, the implementation of the Green Energy Corridor project, and the issues of energy security in Europe were discussed in Budapest during a meeting with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjártó," Shahbazov stated.
The meeting also touched upon the crucial topic of gas supplies from Azerbaijan to European countries, a vital issue in the context of the ongoing energy challenges faced by the continent. Shahbazov emphasized that discussions on the Southern Gas Corridor were a key focus of the meeting, stating, “Gas supplies from Azerbaijan to European countries and the next meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council, which is set to be held in April, were talked over.”
The Green Energy Corridor project, which is aimed at promoting the use of renewable energy sources, was also highlighted as an important aspect of the future energy collaboration between Azerbaijan and Hungary. This comes as both countries aim to boost their roles in ensuring energy security in Europe amid increasing global demand for alternative energy sources.
The upcoming meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council is scheduled for April.
