Azerbaijan prevents smuggling of over 20 kilogrammes of drugs from Iran
The officers of the Goytepe and Lankaran border detachments of the border troops of the Azerbaijani State Border Service have prevented the smuggling of 24 kilogrammes 130 grammes of drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan as part of measures to protect the state border and combat drug trafficking.
While trying to violate the state border, Azerbaijani citizen Novruz Dadashov was detained by the officers of the Goytepe border detachment on the territory of the border outpost near the Deman village of the Yardimli district on March 13 at 21:55 (GMT+4), the State Border Service told Caliber.Az.
Some five kilogrammes 980 grammes of drugs were found and seized.
The officers of the Lankaran border detachment noticed that unknown people tried to illegally cross the state border from Iran to Azerbaijan on the territory of the border outpost near Archivan village of the Astara district on March 14 at 05:30 am (GMT+4).
As a result of the conducted measures, residents of Baku city Kamil Hasanov and Novruz Mirzoyev, who tried to escape in a Mitsubishi car (99-DK-727), were detained.
While inspecting the car, two packages with 18 kilogrammes and 150 grammes of drugs were found and seized.
Proceeding from these facts, investigative measures are being taken.
