Azerbaijan secures multiple medals at III CIS Games PHOTO

Azerbaijani athletes added to their medal tally at the III CIS Games, with notable performances in shooting and fencing.

Shooter Hanna Aliyeva claimed a bronze medal in the 10-meter air pistol event, finishing third in a highly competitive field, Caliber.Az reports per local media. 

In fencing, Azerbaijan secured another bronze, as épée fencer Mirhatai Mammadov lost to Russia’s Roman Selyutin in the semifinals. 

Earlier in the tournament, Mammadov and fellow Azerbaijani fencer Vahab Fatullayev faced each other in the quarterfinals, ensuring that at least one would advance and guaranteeing a bronze medal for the country.

Overall, the Azerbaijani fencing team concluded the Games with a total of six bronze medals.
