Azerbaijan sees electric vehicle boom from environmental point of view

The import of electric vehicles has been recently increased in Azerbaijan.

Advisor to the Azerbaijani minister of ecology and natural resources Rasim Sattarzade said that the import of eco-friendly vehicles to Azerbaijan increased by 19 times in 2023 compared to 2021, Caliber.Az reports.

“Incentives helped to boost imports of electric-powered vehicles significantly. A special working group has been created to increase the share of electric vehicles in the Azerbaijani transport fleet. The comprehensive work is being carried out jointly with the state agencies and representatives of the private sector,” Sattarzade added.

An electric car is one powered by one or more electric motors. It can be powered by a charging system using electricity from off-grid sources, or it can run autonomously on a battery (sometimes charged by solar panels) or by converting fuel to electricity using a generator (often known as a hybrid) or fuel cells.
