Azerbaijan sends new train of diesel fuel and fertilisers to Armenia
A new shipment of fuel and fertilisers has been dispatched from Azerbaijan to Armenia.
According to domestic media, a freight train departed today from the Balajary station operated by Azerbaijan Railways and headed toward the Boyuk Kasik station near the Georgian border. The train consists of 31 tank cars carrying 1,984 tons of diesel fuel, along with two additional wagons transporting 135 tons of fertilisers.
The cargo will reach Armenia through Georgia, as the route passes in transit across Georgian territory. The fertilisers being transported are Russian-made and are delivered to Armenia via Azerbaijan as part of ongoing transit shipments.
This is not the first delivery in recent weeks. On February 25, a train carrying 39 tank cars with 4,500 tons of diesel fuel was sent from Azerbaijan to Armenia. Earlier, on January 11, another shipment included 18 wagons transporting 979 tons of AI-92 gasoline.
Before that, on January 9, Armenia received a total of 2,698 tons of petroleum products from Azerbaijan. The shipment included 1,742 tons of AI-95 gasoline and 956 tons of diesel fuel.
Fuel supplies from Azerbaijan to Armenia began on December 18, 2025, when 1,220 tons of AI-95 gasoline were delivered.
The transportation of such cargo resumed after restrictions on the transit of goods from Azerbaijan to Armenia—introduced during the period of occupation—were lifted. The decision to remove these restrictions was approved by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in October 2025.
