Azerbaijan shines at 3rd CIS Games: gold in taekwondo, silver in sambo

Azerbaijan continued its strong performance at the 3rd CIS Games, securing two more medals in combat sports.

Taekwondo athlete Ziya Hasanli (63 kg) claimed gold after defeating his Russian opponent in the final at the Olympic Training and Sports Centre “Kur” in Mingachevir, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

In sambo, Rustam Gasimzade added to the country’s medal tally with a silver medal. Gasymzade reached the final but was bested by Russian competitor Ismail Makhozhev, demonstrating strong skill and determination throughout the tournament.
