Azerbaijan shines at European Judo Championship with gold medal victory
Azerbaijani judoka Fidan Alizada has clinched the gold medal in the 57 kg weight category at the ongoing European Judo Championship in Tallinn, Estonia.
Alizade showcased exceptional skill and determination throughout the competition, defeating all her opponents to secure the top spot on the podium. In the final match, Alizada faced Georgia’s Nino Loladze and emerged victorious, adding another gold medal to Azerbaijan’s tally, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The European Judo Championship, which is currently featuring youth categories, began its proceedings today. In addition to Alizada’s triumph, the championship has seen notable performances from other Azerbaijani judokas. Farida Mirzayeva and Konul Aliyeva (both competing in the 48 kg category) were among the standout athletes, with Aliyeva successfully claiming the championship title in her weight class.
Nizami Imranov (60 kg) reached the final but finished as the runner-up. Meanwhile, Fidan Gasimova and Khadija Gadashova, competing in the 57 kg and 52 kg categories respectively, also made it to the finals.
With these impressive performances, Azerbaijan’s judo team continues to demonstrate its strength on the European stage. The competition remains fierce as athletes strive for excellence and further accolades.
