Azerbaijan to be used for container transport from China to Europe

A meeting of railway operators of the participating countries of the international multimodal route "Countries of the Asia-Pacific region-China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Türkiye-Europe" has been held in Baku.

At the event, Azerbaijan Railways Deputy Chairman Igbal Huseynov spoke about the joint cooperation of the railway administrations of the participating countries to increase the attractiveness of the route, Report informs.

Also, operators representing six countries discussed a pilot project for container cargo transportation from the Chinese city of Kashgar to Europe. It was noted that a pilot version of the digital platform is already ready, which will increase the efficiency of cargo transportation along the corridor and optimise operations.

The transport route "Asia-Pacific Region-China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Türkiye-Europe" was created in 2019 with the participation of the state railway structures of the Railways and the relevant countries.
