Azerbaijan joins international talks on “green budgeting” in Samarkand
Representatives from Azerbaijan took part in international discussions on “green budgeting” during a public finance conference held in Samarkand, officials said.
According to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Finance, the discussions took place during the 4th International Conference on the Exchange of Experience in Public Finance Management, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The event was organised by the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance of Russia. It aimed to strengthen collaboration among public finance institutions across Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries and to expand the exchange of professional expertise.
Delegates from Azerbaijan included officials from the Ministry of Finance’s Budget Department, the State Treasury Agency, and the Center for the Preparation of the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework. During the conference, Azerbaijani representatives presented recent reforms in budget planning and efforts to improve the monitoring of public spending effectiveness.
Participants also discussed the use of budgetary tools for performance-based budgeting, the digitalisation of public finance systems, and the integration of environmental considerations through “green budgeting,” alongside the application of artificial intelligence technologies in fiscal management.
