A meeting of ministers from member states of the United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) was held in Bangkok, Thailand, on the sidelines of the 82nd session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
The discussions focused on strengthening regional cooperation amid global challenges, including the transformation of supply chains, accelerating digitalization, and growing climate-related risks, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economy.
Deputy Minister of Economy Rovnag Abdullayev underscored Azerbaijan’s ongoing initiatives to expand e-commerce, develop the Middle Corridor, implement digital customs and logistics systems, and enhance human capital development.
He also highlighted that the SPECA Climate Smart Cities Forum, scheduled to be held in Baku during the 13th session of the World Urban Forum, will serve as an additional platform for practical cooperation. The SPECA Multi-Partner Trust Fund was likewise emphasized as a key instrument for advancing joint projects.
Participants further discussed cooperation in science and innovation, including plans to establish a Regional SPECA Research Centre in Baku focused on sustainable development and the green economy.
