Azerbaijan steps up media engagement ahead of World Urban Forum 13
Azerbaijan has intensified preparations for the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) by hosting an informational session aimed at equipping journalists with a deeper understanding of the forum’s key themes and global significance.
The session, organised jointly by the Media Development Agency, ADA University, and the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operating Company, focused on strengthening the capacity of media professionals to cover complex urban issues, including sustainable development, inclusivity, and strategic planning, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Speaking at the event, Saida Shafiyeva, Head of the Communications Department at the Media Development Agency, described WUF13 as more than an international gathering, calling it a vital platform for global dialogue on the future of cities. She underscored the media’s responsibility to deliver accurate and fact-based information, particularly on issues that shape urban development worldwide.
Shafiyeva noted that this was the second such briefing session, reflecting a systematic and strategic approach to preparations for the forum. While the first meeting provided a general overview, the latest session delved into specific topics such as urban planning, green transportation, inclusivity, and long-term development strategies.
She emphasised that early and active engagement with media representatives is critical to ensuring high-quality coverage of the forum, which is expected to bring together international stakeholders, policymakers, and urban experts.
