Azerbaijan to carry out full demilitarization of Karabakh - expert

Azerbaijani political analyst and director of the South Caucasus Research Center Farhad Mammadov summed up the results of yesterday's operation of Azerbaijani army units in the Lachin corridor on his Telegram channel. He again warned Armenia that its further intransigence and subsequent refusal to fulfill the points of the tripartite statement of November 10, 2020, will have more tragic consequences for its statehood.

"The killing of the Azerbaijani soldier is a deliberate action by the Armenian side. The Armenian leadership has gone out these days.... this is also stated by Armenian experts on Telegram channels.

The President of Azerbaijan emphasized in his last statement: 'If Armenia does not intend to withdraw its armed forces from the territory of Azerbaijan, then it should let us know this in clear terms, and we will consider our further actions. What will be our response? It would probably be inappropriate to say it now, but this is a flagrant violation of the 10 November Declaration.'

The lack of a position from official Iravan on the events of recent days gives the Azerbaijani side the right to draw its own conclusions and to implement the clauses of the trilateral statement. The signatories of the statement and the mediators are informed of all the details of the process. Just as they did with the UN Security Council resolutions.

Against the background of intensified military action practically along the entire perimeter and in the depths of Karabakh, the statement by the Armenian side that the Lachin corridor is open and continues to function is interesting. That is, the only thing for which the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Karabakh is responsible (according to the trilateral statement) is working and the Armenian armed forces have the opportunity to fully depart for Armenia. More than a humane step!

The systematic destruction of Armenia's military infrastructure in Karabakh was expected and executed after the mediators failed to get a clear position from the Armenian leadership.

Referring to the decree of the separatist leader Araik Harutyunyan, he said: "But this will complicate the situation even more... What mobilization? Who will be mobilized? So, all the men are in service and live on the salaries of the contract service...This is to recruit contract workers from Armenia."

"Control of the Lachin corridor becomes strategic - not to allow citizens from Armenia in Karabakh and destroy everything they can fight with... Ordinary unarmed people pose no threat.
