Azerbaijan to mark 140th anniversary of founder of first democratic republic
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has decreed “On celebrating the 140th anniversary of Mammadamin Rasulzada”.
The Culture Ministry was instructed, together with the Ministry of Science and Education and the National Academy of Sciences, to develop and implement a plan of events dedicated to the 140th anniversary of Mammadamin Rasulzada, Caliber.Az reports, citing the official website of the Azerbaijani president.
Mammadamin Rasulzada (1884-1955) is the founder of the first democratic republic in the Muslim world.
Rasulzada played a key role in the formation of modern Azerbaijani identity and worked for the independence of his country, enlightening society through media and political activities. Throughout his life, Rasulzada made great efforts to defend his people’s rights and Azerbaijan's independence.
Rasulzada’s motto ‘Once raised, the flag never falls!’ became the maxim of the independence movement in Azerbaijan in the XX century.
