Azerbaijani army ranks among top global forces According to 2025 Global Firepower
Azerbaijan ranks 60th out of 145 countries in the 2025 Global Firepower (GFP) index of the world’s strongest militaries.
The index covers 145 countries and takes into account factors such as army size, financial resources, logistical capabilities, geographical location, access to resources, and mobility. The ranking was based on 60 different indicators, as noted on the company’s website, Caliber.Az reports, citing the annual Global Firepower ranking.
The top three positions were claimed by the US, Russia, and China. Azerbaijan’s close ally, Türkiye, secured a spot in the Top 10, ranking 9th. Meanwhile, Armenia holds the 91st position, while Georgia is ranked 94th.
The Global Firepower (GFP) ranking assesses the military strength of nations based on their potential to conduct warfare across land, sea, and air using conventional methods. The ranking takes into account a wide range of factors that contribute to a country’s overall defence capability, including the size and equipment of its armed forces, financial resources, logistical infrastructure, geographical positioning, and access to resources. The GFP methodology aims to provide an objective comparison of military strength, factoring in not just the number of soldiers or weapons, but also the quality, training, and effectiveness of these assets in combat scenarios. This holistic approach ensures that the ranking reflects each nation's ability to sustain military operations and respond to potential threats.
