Azerbaijani athletes triumph at Grand Bellagio Championship-2 in Georgia
Azerbaijani athletes emerged victorious at the Grand Bellagio Championship-2, an international kickboxing and MMA tournament held in Batumi, Georgia.
The second edition of the tournament featured six kickboxing matches and two MMA bouts. Competitors came from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Israel, Belgium, Iran, Uganda, Kazakhstan, Türkiye, and Armenia, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Azerbaijani fighter Yusif Gasimov secured a win in the 68 kg MMA category by defeating Kazakhstan's Ulan Tambagaev with a submission hold.
In the main event, Azerbaijani kickboxing champion Alim Nabiyev, a seven-time world champion and three-time European champion, claimed victory over Uganda's Umar Semata, a European champion and three-time world champion.
This win marked Nabiyev’s 56th victory in 64 fights.
Azerbaijani athletes received support from the Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia, the Consulate General in Batumi, and Azerbaijani businessmen residing in the country.
