Azerbaijani athletes win gold and bronze at 3rd CIS Games
Azerbaijani athletes continued to impress at the 3rd CIS Games, currently being held in Azerbaijan, with notable successes in karate and wrestling.
In Mingachevir, the national karate team secured two gold medals. Madina Sadigova triumphed over Nazrin Piriyeva in the 55 kg final, while Nuran Rzazade (67 kg) also claimed the top podium spot. Farid Savadov (60 kg) fell short in his final match, and Roman Heydarov advanced to the kata final, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Meanwhile, in Ganja, Azerbaijani freestyle wrestler Huseyn Rzazade (45 kg) won a bronze medal at the Ganja Olympic Sports Complex, marking another achievement for the host nation on the first day of wrestling competitions.
The 3rd CIS Games feature 1,624 athletes from 13 countries and will continue through 8 October, showcasing a range of sports and fostering regional camaraderie among participating nations.
