The Azerbaijani women's team, comprising Dina Ulyanova, Tatyana Denisikina, Alexandra Mollenhauer, and Mercedes Walker, had a remarkable run throughout the tournament. On the second day, they played their postponed group A match against Luxembourg, emerging victorious with a score of 21:8. This victory came after their earlier triumph over Malta (17:14), according to azerisport.com.
The team's winning streak continued in the semi-finals, where they defeated Malta 15:10. In a thrilling final match, they faced Cyprus, overcoming them with a score of 21:12, securing their place in the European Cup final tournament.
Meanwhile, the Azerbaijani men's team, composed of Jordan Davis, Emil Gamzayev, Jabrail Akperov, and Endar Poladkhanly, also demonstrated their prowess on the court. They played their postponed group B match against Albania on the second day, securing a victory of 21:13. Their previous group wins included triumphs over Armenia (21:9), Kosovo (14:10), and Cyprus (21:16).
The men's team continued their winning streak in the semi-finals, defeating Ireland 21:12. In a closely contested final match, they faced Cyprus once again, emerging victorious with a score of 20:18, earning their spot in the European Cup final tournament.
The 3x3 Basketball European Cup final tournament will take place from August 22nd to 25th in Vienna, Austria. Both the Azerbaijani men's and women's teams will be eagerly anticipating the opportunity to compete against the best teams in Europe and showcase their skills on the international stage.
