Azerbaijani chess players to compete for $600,000

The FIDE Grand Swiss Tournament 2023 will start in the UK on October 25.

Azerbaijan will be represented by seven chess players, namely, Nijat Abbasov, Rauf Mammadov, Vasif Durarbayli, Aydin Suleymanli, Gunay Mammadzada, Ulviyya Fataliyeva and Govhar Beydullayeva. Two chess players will be able to advance to the tournament, both in the men's and women's competitions, azerisport.com reports.

There will be 114 chess players in the men's competition and 50 chess players in the women's competition. The total prize fund of the tournament, which will consist of 11 rounds according to the Swiss system, will be $600,000.
