Azerbaijani grandmaster scores three victories at Aimchess Rapid tournament
Azerbaijani grandmaster Shahriyar Mammadyarov has scored three victories at the Aimchess Rapid chess tournament.
As part of the tournament, which is a stage of the Tour of Champions, Mammadyarov, who played together with world champion Magnus Carlsen (Norway), Anish Giri (Netherlands), Richard Rapport (Romania), Gukesh, Arjun Erigaisi, Pentala Harikrishna, Vidit Santosh Gujarati, Aditya Mittal (all India), Jan-Krzysztof Duda (Poland), Nodirbek Abdusattorov (Uzbekistan), Vincent Keimer (Germany), David Guijarro (Spain), Niels Grandelius (Sweden), Eric Hansen (Canada) and Daniel Naroditsky (the US), Report informs.
Participants hold a round-robin tournament, after which the best eight will continue to play in the playoffs.
On the second day of the competition, Mammadyarov scored three victories:
Round 5: Keimer - Mammadyarov 1:0
Round 6: Mammadyarov - Mittal 1:0
Round 7: Rapport - Mammadyarov 0:1
Round 8: Mammadyarov - Guizarro 1:0
