Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestlers grab nine medals at tournament in Bahrain
Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestlers have grabbed nine medals at the ISF Gymnasiade in Manama, Bahrain.
Mikayil Ismayilov (110 kg) gained a victory over all his opponents and claimed the top spot on the podium, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Azerbaijan's wrestlers achieved notable success at the World Gymnasiade, with silver medals awarded to Shahid Nabiyev (48 kg), Nihat Bahmanov (51 kg), Amrakh Amrakhov (55 kg), Akif Najafli (65 kg), and Yusif Ahmadli (71 kg). Moreover, Turan Dashdamirov (55 kg), Nihat Taghiyev (60 kg), and Emil Abbasov (80 kg) claimed bronze medals.
The Gymnasiade features 160 Azerbaijani athletes competing in 16 kinds of sports.
From the 23rd to the 31st of October 2024, the largest International Sport School Federation (ISF) is gathering school students from around the world to compete in 26 different kinds of sports in Manama, Bahrain.
Over the course of eight days, both students and teachers are having the opportunity to experience a wide range of different activities, from inspiring workshops and seminars to unforgettable cultural visits and interactions with their peers from around the world, all in the spirit of fair-play and respect whilst striving for excellence, through their shared love for sport.
