Azerbaijani MP slams Nathalie Loiseau's election as EU delegation vice-chair
On October 3, during a meeting in Brussels, French Deputy Nathalie Loiseau was appointed as the first vice-chair of the European Parliament's delegation for relations with the South Caucasus, a decision that has sparked backlash in Azerbaijan.
Gaya Mammadov, a member of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis (parliament), expressed his concerns, describing Loiseau as a well-known Azerbaijani-phobe who has dedicated her life to not only harming Azerbaijan but also undermining its relationship with the European Union, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Mammadov criticized the decision to elect someone with extremist and racist views like Loiseau to this role, calling it a misguided and provocative action. He reiterated that Loiseau’s agenda appears to focus on damaging Azerbaijan and its ties to the EU.
In his comments, Mammadov emphasized the urgency for the European Parliament to take corrective action regarding this appointment, viewing it as a significant misstep.
