Azerbaijani national wrestling team becomes European champion
Azerbaijan U-17 wrestling team has achieved another historic success at the European Championship in Novi Sad, Serbia.
Nine out of 10 team members, who performed under the guidance of head coach Taleh Israfilov, coaches Rasim Aghayev and Elbrus Mammadov, won medals (three gold, two silver, and four bronze), Caliber.Az reports.
Azerbaijan became the European champion in the team competition with 183 points. Our national team was 51 points ahead of second-placed Armenia. Ukraine closed the third position (121 points).
Thus, the U-17 Greco-Roman wrestling team became the strongest in Europe for the third time (2021, 2022, 2024).
In this competition, Azerbaijani wrestlers also set a new record for the number of medals and points scored.
Turan Dashdamirov (51kg), Aykhan Javadov (60kg) and Said Pashayev became continental champions. Silver medals were won by Amrah Amrahov (48kg) and Yusif Ahmadli (71kg), while bronze medals were won by Nijat Isgandarli (45kg), Ali Nazarov (55kg), Orkhan Hajiyev (80kg) and Mikayil Ismayilov.
