Azerbaijani nationals receive ongoing care following fatal Aktau plane crash “Severe but Stable” condition revealed
The treatment of two Azerbaijani citizens who were injured in the AZAL passenger plane crash near Aktau on December 25 last year is continuing at the "Yeni Klinika" hospital.
According to the press service of Azerbaijani Management Union of Medical Territorial Units (TABIB), one of the patients remains in the intensive care unit, with his condition described as "severe but stable," Caliber.Az reports.
The second patient is undergoing treatment in the hospital, and his condition is reported as "satisfactory."
On January 28, the two individuals, Nurullah Sirajov and Muslimat Sirajova, who had been receiving treatment in the inpatient department, were transferred to the Medical Rehabilitation Centre at TABIB.
TABIB 's statement also noted that 13 out of 17 patients previously treated at "Yeni Klinika" have been discharged for outpatient care. Their health is now monitored by local doctors in their places of residence.
A TABIB spokesperson commented: "We continue to provide the best possible care for the injured, and their recovery is our priority. Our medical teams are closely monitoring their progress, and we are optimistic about their rehabilitation."
Notably, 38 passengers were killed out of the 67 people on board, while 29 survived when Azerbaijan Airlines Flight 8432 crashed near Aktau, Kazakhstan, on December 25. The crash occurred after a missile strike caused significant mid-flight damage.
Azerbaijani government sources confirmed that a Russian surface-to-air missile, fired during drone activity above Grozny, struck the plane. Shrapnel from the explosion hit passengers and crew members.
Despite pilots' requests for an emergency landing, Russian authorities denied access to nearby airports, directing the damaged aircraft towards Aktau.
