Azerbaijani official: Middle Corridor’s strategic role increasing
The strategic role of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) is increasing amidst the geopolitical situation.
Taleh Ziyadov, General Director of the Baku International Sea Trade Port, made the statement at a meeting with representatives of China's biggest port Qingdao, according to Report.
He said the situation in the region, especially the new realities after the 44-day war, offered additional opportunities for the Middle Corridor.
"New opportunities are opening up through the Zangazur corridor for Chinese companies to take advantage of," said the director general.
According to Ziyadov, over the past 10 years, the Azerbaijani government has implemented a strategy to turn the country into a regional logistics hub.
"Today Baku port will sign a memorandum of understanding with one of China's largest ports, Qingdao. This will attract more cargo to the Middle Corridor. Qingdao Port occupies an important place in cargo transportation in the Middle Corridor. In 2019, we visited this port and discussed working together. The port is using advanced technology," Ziyadov added.
