Azerbaijani para swimmer becomes European champion PHOTO

Azerbaijani para swimmer Raman Salei won a gold medal at the Madeira 2024 European Open Championships in Portugal.

On the first day of the competition, the Azerbaijani athlete was ahead of all his rivals in the 100-metre backstroke race, according to Report.

The championship will end on April 27.

Madeira Island, Portugal hosts the European Open Championships for the third time in 2024 following successful editions in 2016 and 2021. Once again, the European Championships offers athletes and teams an important test ahead of the Paralympic Games in Paris later in the year.

Madeira 2024 is open to athletes from non-European countries and is being held at the Olympic Pools Complex in Funchal from April 21 to 27, 2024.
