Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Aykhan Hajizada has said that Armenia distorts facts about the January Tragedy, describing it as “a clear case of hypocrisy”.

The diplomat made the remarks in response to the Armenian Foreign Ministry’s post on X accusing Azerbaijan of “deportation and ethnic cleansing,” Caliber.Az reports, citing Hajizada’s official X account.

“Accusing Azerbaijan of deportation & ethnic cleansing is not only absurd, but also an attempt to cover up the systematic policy of ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijanis from historical lands in Armenian and Azerbaijan,” Hajizada stressed.
