NATO meeting: Azerbaijan expands military cooperation with key partners PHOTO

Colonel General Karim Valiyev, First Deputy Minister of Defence and Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army is actively engaging in high-level discussions during his visit to Brussels for the NATO Military Committee Chiefs of Defence meeting.

The event brings together military leaders from NATO member states and partner countries to discuss critical security issues and foster cooperation, Caliber.Az has learnt from the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry.

During the session, Colonel General Valiyev outlined Azerbaijan's enduring commitment to global and regional stability, sharing the nation’s achievements in contributing to NATO-led initiatives, including the Resolute Support Mission. He also highlighted the valuable expertise Azerbaijani servicemen have gained through participation in NATO exercises and collaborative efforts.

“Azerbaijan remains steadfast in its dedication to international peace and security as a sovereign nation that has fully restored its territorial integrity,” Valiyev stated.

The Azerbaijani military leader also conducted a series of bilateral meetings with key NATO counterparts. These included discussions with Army General Metin Gürak, Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces; Army General Luciano Portolano, Chief of Defence of the Italian Armed Forces; and Army General Gábor Böröndi, Chief of Defence Staff of the Hungarian Defence Forces.

In these meetings, Colonel General Valiyev explored the current status and future prospects of military cooperation with the respective nations, focusing on areas of mutual interest and collaboration.

The Head of Azerbaijan’s Mission to NATO, Jafar Huseynzada, joined these discussions, underscoring Azerbaijan's proactive role in fostering defence partnerships.
