Azerbaijani ombudsperson champions human rights collaboration at TÜRKOMB meeting
On January 16, 2025, Sabina Aliyeva, Azerbaijan's Human Rights Ombudsperson, participated in the latest virtual meeting of the Association of Ombudsmen and National Human Rights Institutes of Turkic States (TÜRKOMB).
The event brought together prominent figures in human rights from across the Turkic world, including Türkiye, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan, the Ombudsperson's Office told Caliber.Az.
In her address, Aliyeva highlighted TÜRKOMB as a dynamic platform for exchanging valuable experiences in the field of human rights. She emphasized the importance of fostering continued collaboration and knowledge sharing among ombudsmen from Turkic countries to strengthen their collective efforts toward advancing human rights.
The Ombudsman also reflected on the significant contributions made by the Azerbaijan Ombudsman Institute within the framework of TÜRKOMB, citing numerous initiatives that have helped bolster cooperation among member states. She proposed that such initiatives continue to thrive in the future, further solidifying ties and advancing the mission of the association.
During the meeting, representatives from various member countries presented reports on their national human rights efforts, discussed their plans for the upcoming year, and introduced new proposals to further strengthen the collective work of the association.
