Azerbaijani sports minister elected chair of COP10 on anti-doping
Farid Gayibov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Youth and Sports, has been elected as chair of the 10th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP10) to the UNESCO International Convention against Doping in Sport.
The session opened on October 20 at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, where Gayibov addressed participants and outlined priorities for strengthening global efforts to combat doping in sport, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
During the session, member states voted to elect the chair, with Gayibov receiving a clear majority.
Gayibov has held several prominent roles in international sports governance. In 2022, he was elected chair of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Education and Sport (CIGEPS), and in 2023 he served as vice-chair of COP9, the previous session of the anti-doping convention.
